Book Review: The Raven Boys, by Maggie Steifvater

I am not a YA reader by any stretch of the imagination, and my 2 star rating for this book reflects my opinions on YA books in general. With that being said, it was hard for me to get through this story. However, that doesn’t mean the story itself wasn’t interesting; just that it didn’t interest me.

For as long as Blue can remember, her clairvoyant family has been warning her that she will cause her true love to die. The only way to prevent this, is to never, EVER, kiss a boy. Blue doesn’t see this as ever becoming a problem, as she has no interest in falling in love… but when she meets a boy named Gansey, one of the Raven Boys from a local private school, it absolutely becomes a problem…

Blue and the Raven Boys embark on a risky quest, using Blue’s clairvoyant powers and knowledge to discover and locate the local ley lines to perform an important ritual. All the while she avoids the temptation to kiss her true love…

*Big sighs* I really wanted to like this book, and I think had I of read it 15 years ago I would of. If you are interested in fantasy/YA then this book may interest you.
