This highly decorated, visible author is revising the first edition of this book in the wake of the most recent turmoil. His new edition contains valuable insight to many of the terrorist groups in the Iraq region including ISIS, which is being talked about on nearly every news outlet today. The book continues to draw on the historical analyses and examinations of organizations, weapons, strategy, tactics, and policy recommendations included in the first edition. It will also add valuable insight learned from the most recent crisis and the changes that have occurred in the last six years since its publication.
The Terrorists of Iraq gives the reader a unique view into the Iraqi insurgency, between the years of 2003-2014. From the first shots of the Sunni insurgency against U.S. occupying forces, by loyalists of Saddam Hussein, to the 2014 self-declaration of a caliphate by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, (aka ISIS).
I purchased this book to gain insight from an intelligence insider, and I wasn’t disappointed. Author Malcolm Nance describes situations clearly, with a highly detailed timeline, making this textbook a page turner. His enthusiasm for the analysis of terror groups is infectious, not to mention educational.
I have extensively researched and read into the war in Iraq, and I knew a lot about the subject matter going into The Terrorists of Iraq. However, I came out with an even deeper understanding of all the details, that are left out of the news, thanks to Author Malcolm Nance.
I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to know the true story about this delicate subject matter.
I would like to thank my wife, April, for allowing me to use her forum to express my thoughts on The Terrorists of Iraq.
