“Sometimes, it takes an unexpected stroke of fortune to find your heart’s desire. And, it could just take a miracle to keep her.”
Heartbreaker is the stirring new adult novel by Ariana Miller that tells the story of two souls who are immediately drawn to each other. Just as suddenly, however, they are threatened with losing one another forever.
At the age of twenty-six, Nate Kendrick inherits the summer home of his grandfather Wilfred in Lake View, Alabama. For Nate, it is a house filled with happy memories of his loving grandparents, as well as a haven from his distant and social-climbing parents. But when Nate returns to the lake as the new owner, he meets a young woman named Amber McKenzie. With a physical disability and no living parents, Amber possesses an inner strength that captivates Nate.
Can their bond endure the damage caused by Nate’s conspiring mother? What’s more, when the mother of the child Amber cares for falls gravely ill, Amber’s role in the beloved family may leave no room for another love. As family ties are tested, and love is tried, Heartbreaker will fire your imagination as it seizes your heart.

AWRW Book Review:
“Isn’t it amazing how we need a person we can run to no matter how strong we are? A person who won’t judge us regardless of our mistakes?”
At age 26, Nate Kendrick inherits the summer-home of his late grandfather in Alabama. Filled with warm, loving memories, Nate’s undecided about whether he wants to sell it. And then he meets next door neighbor Amber, who unexpectedly dazzles him…
Amber spends her summers with the Sinclairs, taking care of their young daughter, Emily, (despite her disability), and giving her music lessons. When Nate drops by to deliver a package from the bakery, she’s surprised to see Nate in the flesh. Having heard about Nate many, many times from his late grandfather, Amber wonders if he really is as wonderful as his grandfather painted him. Invited over for dinner with the family, Amber gets a chance to know him better.
Nate offers to take Amber and Emily for fishing lessons, in exchange for music lessons, to get to know her better. One question that weighs heavy on his mind: Why didn’t his grandfather ever mention Amber?
Nate feels they have something special between them, and he doesn’t want to lose her. He truly believes that Amber is a reflection of him. But was he REALLY falling in love with her, or was it just the wonderful memories of the house playing tricks on his head and on his heart?
As their relationship develops, Amber has a hard time finding common ground with Nate’s she-devil of a mother. Unable to compete, Amber has second thoughts of their relationship. Then tragedy strikes, throwing the pair into a whirlwind that will ultimately either bring them closer together, or drive them further apart…. One thing is for sure, Nate is not willing to step away from his only chance at true love.
I really enjoyed Heartbreaker, a sweet romance turned drama, by Ariana Miller. Much like Ariana Miller’s first book in the Love Series, Timeless Love, the reader is thrown for a loop toward the end! Anything but predictable, Heartbreaker doesn’t disappoint!
I enjoyed the characters. They were authentic and believable. The dialogue was natural, and Nate and Amber’s relationship progressed as could be expected. Also, the secondary characters were just as important to the story. For instance, the Sinclairs never faded into the background. Their personalities came to life just as much as the main characters. I was able to get to know each character individually.
The POV is from both Nate and Amber, allowing the reader to experience what both characters are feeling. I liked that about this book. I often feel that books with only one POV are very, well… one sided! Allowing them both a “voice” made this book all the more interesting.
I did notice that Ariana Miller’s writing style has progressed since Timeless Love. At times I felt like I was reading a book penned by Debbie Macomber, or Wanda E. Brunstetter, two of my favorite Authors who are well known for creating compelling characters and weaving amazing stories around them! Ariana Miller did just this with Heartbreaker. I was extremely impressed! If you are looking for a “read-alike” to either of these Authors, you might be interested in Heartbreaker! (Bonus, Ariana Miller doesn’t shy away from erotic scenes, unlike the above mentioned Authors.) 😉
Is this book worth the price? You betcha! I’d personally recommend the paperback version, as it is pretty and pink and would look lovely on any bookshelf!
My one and only complaint about the book is that the editor seemed to be out to lunch at times… There were several glaring typos that were a bit distracting which was disappointing considering the content and amazing writing of the Author. However, don’t get me wrong, this didn’t take away my love for the book!
Overall, I was very impressed with Heartbreaker. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys contemporary romance with dramatic twists! 5 hearts!! ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤

About the Author:
“Ariana Miller majored in Accounting, and has extensive experience in the accounting field. She currently lives in Washington, DC, though she originally hails from Orlando, Florida, and also lived in New York for many years.
Miller has been writing, in one form or another, for most of her life. As a teen, she penned poetry in her free time; as an internal auditor, she honed her abilities even more by writing reports. But, despite her lifelong passion for writing, it wasn’t until recently that Miller decided to publish her books.
For most of her life, a crucial piece of the puzzle had been missing–inspiration. But, in July 2013, she finally found it. After a life-changing encounter with a very unique person, Miller broke through the wall to release her debut novel, Timeless Love, the first of four standalone books in her forthcoming Love Series.” –Amazon Biography
I must add, Ariana Miller looks like she could be on the cover of a romance novel, right?!?!?! 🙂
