Book Review: The Journal of Vincent du Maurier (The Fifth Empire #1) by K.P Ambroziak

The Journal of Vincent du Maurier by K.P Ambroziak is a chronicalization of Vincent’s struggle to save the human and vampire races. It is 2052, and the human and vampire races face extinction due to the recent rising of the undead. The world has been overcome by hoards of the undead, which isn’t good for vampires, nor humans. If the undead consume the humans, there will be nothing left for the vampire race to feed off. Without humans, the vampire race will become extinct. In order for both races to survive, humans and vampires must work together… and refrain from natural vampire temptations.

The only person who can save them both is vampire Byron, a bit of a mad scientist. Byron’s experiments have taken his own life, and the only thing left behind are his notes. Fortunately for the world, vampire Vincent makes it his mission to carry out what Byron so desperately longed to accomplish.

Through Byron’s notes Vincent is able to discover the key to saving humanity.

A charitable pregnant girl and a rare flower can prevent both races from becoming extinct. But will Vincent be able to avoid his natural temptation, especially when times become desperate? For his love of Byron, he wills himself to do the impossible, and he keeps his pregnant human abductee safe… both from himself and the undead.

I really enjoyed the style of this book. It was fun that the author wrote her story as a journal. That added an interesting twist. The story itself has a lot of twists and turns that the reader will not see coming. There was never a dull moment, the book held my interest throughout!

Excellent character development, an interesting story, and a fun format. I give this book a well deserved 4 stars!

*** I received an E-Copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest review.
