Red Glove is the follow up book to Holly Black’s “White Cat”. Like the first book, it is based on curses, cons, magic, and a catastrophic love.
“White Cat” ended with Cassel’s mother ‘gifting’ him with tricking his crush Lila into loving him. This gift comes at a cost, because Cassel’s conscience eats him alive knowing that Lila doesn’t truly have these feelings for him.
Being a transformation worker isn’t as great as it seems. Now that he knows about his power,(which his family hid from him), others do too, including the mob, and he is recruited to use it.
Not only is the mob interested in him, but the feds are too… and they need his help to solve his brother’s murder. The only clue; red gloves.
Red Glove is beautifully written, and highly recommended. I look forward to the next book in the Curse Worker’s series, and I can’t imagine what happens next! Four Stars!
“The moment she was cursed, I lost her. Once it wears off- soon- she will be embarrassed to remember things that she said, things she did, things like this. No matter how solid she feels in my arms, she is made of smoke.”
